How Our School Holiday Programs Support Children
Supported by a Trained & Experienced Multidisciplinary Team
What makes Together We Heal School Holiday Programs different is the level of support surrounding our participants.
Experienced Multidisciplinary Support
Our programs are supported by our trained and experienced multidisciplinary team, which may include psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors, behavioural therapists, therapy assistants, support workers and allied health professionals, depending on the program and individual support needs. Families seeking a Psychologist in Boronia or a dedicated Therapy Assistant as part of a child’s broader support network can speak with our team about how these services align with our holiday programs.
Our team has experience supporting children and young people with a range of developmental, emotional, behavioural, social, communication and disability-related needs.
This means our School Holiday Programs are more than simply an outing. We aim to understand each participant’s individual strengths, needs and goals and provide appropriate support so they can participate as confidently and independently as possible.
Having Fun While Building Real-Life Skills
Some of the best opportunities for learning happen naturally while having fun.
Ordering lunch, waiting for a turn at bowling, choosing a game at Timezone, interacting with another child, preparing for horse riding, managing excitement at a trampoline park or participating in a group adventure can all provide opportunities to practise important everyday skills.
Depending on each participant’s individual goals and needs, our programs may support:
- Friendship & social interaction
- Communication
- Confidence & self-esteem
- Emotional regulation
- Independence
- Teamwork
- Turn-taking
- Problem-solving
- Decision-making
- Flexibility
- Resilience
- Community safety
- Daily living skills
- Social & community participation
The emphasis remains on enjoyment, participation and positive experiences, with skill development incorporated naturally throughout the day.
Friendship, Belonging & Social Connection
School holidays can sometimes feel isolating for children and young people who find it difficult to establish friendships or access mainstream activities.
Our full-day programs provide opportunities to meet others, share experiences, practise social interaction and develop meaningful connections in a supportive environment.
We celebrate individual differences and aim to create a space where every participant feels safe, welcomed, respected and included.
Individualised Support
Every child and young person is different.
Some participants may confidently join group activities with minimal assistance, while others may require additional support with transitions, communication, sensory needs, emotional regulation, behaviour, personal care or community participation.
Our team considers individual support needs when planning activities, with additional or individualised assistance arranged where appropriate.
NDIS Participants Welcome
NDIS School Holiday Programs
Together We Heal welcomes self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants.
Where appropriate and consistent with a participant’s NDIS plan, goals and funding arrangements, our School Holiday Programs may provide opportunities to work towards goals related to social and community participation, independence, communication and everyday life skills. Families may also explore related supports such as NDIS Psychotherapy and Counselling in Boronia to complement the goals worked on during our programs.
Our team can discuss individual support requirements, program arrangements and applicable costs with families before booking.
Supporting Families and Parents
We know school holidays can be just as much of a consideration for parents and carers as for children. Alongside our programs, our Parent Support Family Program is available to help families navigate everyday challenges, access the right supports and feel confident in their child’s care and development.
Every School Holiday Is a New Adventure
One holiday might mean bowling, laser tag and Timezone. Another could take us to Flip Out, Bounce or Ninja Parc. Summer may bring swimming, beach and outdoor adventures, while winter can bring exciting snow and mountain experiences.
From camping and horse riding to movies, mini golf, creative activities, community outings and much more, there is always something new to look forward to.
